About Matt

I'm Matt, a final-year MEng Civil & Structural Engineering Student at the University of Leeds, originally from Derby in the East Midlands. As I am fortunate enough to have had a placement with Mott MacDonald in between my second and third years at University, I would like to pass on some of my industrial experience to students currently studying towards similar degrees.

About the lesson

Tailored to your individual needs, we can spend between 1 and 2 hours working towards the following typical goals:
- Statics theories, such as construction of Shear Force and Bending Moment diagrams, calculation of deflection and all steel, concrete and timber element design.
- Water and Soil Engineering fundamentals.
- Assistance with Integrated Design Projects.
- Perfecting a CV ready for an interview for a summer or industrial (year-long) placement. I've had both summer as well as an industrial placement so am well-placed to help you perfect these.
- Degree-level Engineering Mathematics as well as any teaching required up until A-level. I achieved an A* in mathematics at both GCSE and A-level.

I can then deliver as many lessons as you require to work towards the targets we'll set in the first session. I will set example questions to focus in on the areas you're struggling with and am always happy to provide adhoc advice between sessions too.
