My lessons include modified coursework from what you are currently learning in class. I will break down in steps the process for you to complete your work. My technique is to have my students do it mentally. If they can't, then I use their favorite hobby and work in the lesson that way. My lessons are for elementary and middle school. I do math, ELA, basic science and I also do social studies.
A typical lesson plan is for me to first have a chat with the student to see what they don't understand about a subject. Then I will go step by step through the problems and work side by side with the student.
