About Yara

I am an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate from Queen's University Belfast with a strong passion for Mathematics and problem-solving. I achieved an A* in A-Level Mathematics and an A* in Engineering Mathematics at university. I enjoy teaching because I like helping students understand difficult topics in a simple and logical way, allowing them to build confidence and improve their results. My teaching style focuses on understanding methods and patterns rather than memorizing answers, helping students become more independent and efficient when solving questions. I am patient, supportive, and committed to creating a comfortable learning environment for students of all ages up to and including Year 13/A-Level Mathematics.

About the lesson

I offer 1-hour or 2-hour Mathematics lessons for students of all ages up to and including Year 13/A-Level Mathematics. My teaching method focuses on helping students fully understand the logic behind Mathematics questions rather than simply memorizing solutions. At the beginning of each lesson, me and the student carefully go through the topic notes together and create a support sheet containing the important formulas, rules, methods, and at least one fully worked example question and answer for every new section. This sheet is then used throughout the lesson for guidance and revision. After this, we practice several questions together step-by-step before the student begins solving questions independently while using the support sheet when needed. Through repeated practice, students naturally begin to memorize the formulas and methods without forcing memorization, helping them become more confident and faster in exams. At the beginning of future lessons, I encourage students to solve questions without looking at the sheet to strengthen long-term understanding and exam technique. I achieved an A* in A-Level Mathematics and an A* in Engineering Mathematics while studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Queen's University Belfast. I have previously tutored students and have always been recognized for my strong problem-solving approach in Mathematics, which has helped me achieve high results while studying efficiently and leaving more time for other difficult subjects.
