My lessons will have an unconventional approach to language learning. In years of learning languages, I have noticed how hard it is to have occasions to practice and become comfortable when expressing yourself in a foreign language, specially for people who don't live in the country of the target language. In my classes you will have the chance to do so! Although in a different way!
My philosophy is that repetition (that is practice) and mimic (the way native people speak) are important aspects that are usually neglected and that are crucial to someone’s fluency and confidence when speaking a foreign language. If your think about it, for example, it is only once your have ordered food in various restaurants in let’s say Barcelona, that you’ll feel confident enough about your language skills when ordering food and only then it will come natural to you to do so (that is part of your fluency!).
Furthermore, learning a language also involves understanding a new culture and empathizing with people with different realities and learning their way of expressing themselves. Here is when mimic comes into play. In order to do so, it is necessary to listen (both to the words and to the sound) and repeat.
You’ll need to think a bit like an actor, who mimics other people’s behaviour and repeats over and over his lines in order to act them fluently!

In this class, we’ll be working with dialogues consisting of imagined scenarios taken from real life situations. We will go through the meaning of the vocabulary first. Then I will be reading the dialogue, and you will be repeating after me mimicking. Then we will start with role playing! You’ll be assigned one of the characters in the dialogue and we’ll read trough acting it out as many times as you need to memorize it. When you’ll feel comfortable enough, we’ll act the scene without the paper! Et voilà, you now know how to express yourself more fluently in a given real life situation!

Warning! This exercise might feel a little pointless at the beginning, but remember that your brain is like a sponge, which doesn’t only remember words, but also for how long you have practiced them and with what fluency. As a matter of fact, it takes much longer to forget a language to someone who has practiced it every day for years then to someone who hasn’t! But most importantly, when you’ll be in your beautiful Spanish or Italian holiday sitting at a restaurant table, you’ll be more confident about ordering your food because your brain will remember that he has already been in that situation more then once! ;)
