Scholars are highly encourage to ask any questions they feel are pertinent. I have over 4 years experience tutoring in volunteer and professional settings. I specialize in math tutoring for arithmetic, algebraic thinking, Geometry, and calculus. Lessons are scholar-centered and based on long term goals set during an assessment session.
After the initial assessment, strengths and challenges are recognized and lessons will reinforce proficient math skills while working towards mastery of challenging concepts.
I utilize the power of socratic questioning during all my lessons. For example, " How do YOU think you should solve this problem? What skills does the problem require? Are there steps we can take to REDUCE the amount of effort and time we have to expend?".
In additon to socratic questions I emphasize the power of mental math. Regardless of age or skill level, sharpening mental math skills can save a scholar hours in time by utilzing logical and sensible mental math methods.
