About Erin

Hi I’m Erin!
I’m a media production graduate and an aspiring primary school teacher with a passion for helping others reach their full potential.
I want to teach because I know how powerful it is when someone takes the time to explain things properly and believes in you. I’ve always loved working with children and young people, and I enjoy breaking topics down in a way that actually makes sense, especially for students who feel nervous, overwhelmed or have lost confidence in a subject.
I’m patient, encouraging and understanding, and I aim to make lessons feel calm and supportive rather than stressful. I believe learning should feel achievable and even enjoyable, not intimidating. Seeing a student finally “get it” or feel proud of themselves is the best part of tutoring for me.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is tailored to fit the needs of the student while being supportive and structured. I believe confidence is just as important as content, so I focus on creating a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

I adapt my teaching style to suit the student, whether they learn best through visual examples, discussion, practice questions or creative tasks. For younger learners, lessons are engaging and interactive, helping to build strong foundations in English and Maths. For GCSE and A-Level Media Studies, I focus on developing critical thinking, analysis skills, exam technique and clear written responses.

I regularly check understanding throughout the lesson and adjust the pace where needed. I also set small goals so students can see their progress and feel motivated.

Lessons typically last an hour but shorter or longer sessions can be arranged if needed.

Qualifications:
- BA (hons) Media Production (second class honours)
- strong academic background in Media Studies, English and Maths
- currently working towards a PGCE and QTS in Primary Education
- Experience working with children in schools, through volunteering and babysitting
