About Ally

I graduated from UNR in May, 2021, after many long days and nights of studying, exam taking, and lab courses. The memories of my courses are still fresh in my mind, and work as my inspiration for wanting to help others! My tutoring career started in 2021, while I was a senior at UNR. A family friend reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in helping her son with his college physics course, and with that offer I became a private tutor. I'm so glad that I agreed to become his tutor, because I discovered my passion for tutoring! I tutored this student for one academic semester at his community college (January 2021 through May 2021). His mom and my student, constantly thanked me. I was touched that I was able to help him succeed and understand his physics assignments! I also tutored another student who was a family friend from 2021 to 2022. He was also attending UNR, and I kept all my old notes and coursework from all my classes, so I was able to help tutor him in one of the exact same physics courses that I attended a few years back. So, I was a private tutor from 2021 to 2022. I also unofficially helped "tutor" my peers throughout high school and college. If I felt confident in the material, I would offer to help work with my peers until they understood the material, as well. I've always enjoyed helping others understand difficult course material, it's such a wonderful feeling to have "the light bulb come on" as they say. Ultimately, I want to serve as inspiration and support for my students. My goal is to help them succeed. If I don't feel confident to teach specific material in a manner detailed enough to help a student, I will educate myself and study to prepare a much stronger and easier to follow lesson plan on my own. I'm willing to learn how to do a student's coursework, even if I don't have much experience in it, in order to help out the best I can! I'll relearn material I'm rocky on, and refresh my brain on material that I'm strong in in order to provide the best tutoring experience!

About the lesson

I'm extremely passionate about helping other students succeed!!! I understand how frustrating it can feel when you go to class everyday but still struggle to grasp a topic and/or are unable to answer your assigned homework assignments.

In college, I spent hours teaching myself material that I was unable to grasp during lecture, just to barely understand my homework assignments enough to complete them. I can imagine that this is the case for many students no matter what their academic education level is at.

I would love to be there for students who need help, so they do not have to struggle alone! I would also love to be there for students who would like further their knowledge of a particular subject but need assistance. I just want to be there for students. My sole mission is to help a student succeed, and I will adapt my teaching style to fit their unique needs and desires! To me the student's ultimate success comes first, always!!! If you select me as your tutor, I will be sure to always be: adaptable, understanding, friendly, patient, and kind!

The student was extremely hard working and more sharp than they gave themselves credit for!!! They have a lot of potential and need to give themselves more credit!!! Study hard and often to reinforce all the new information you're learning in class to keep yourself up to date with your lessons. I thrive to give the best possible tutoring experience for a student! My rates include the time that I spend preparing for my tutoring session, for the time spent in the actual tutoring session via Webcam. My prep-time includes: putting together my lesson plan, studying the course material that the student wants to work on, and for preparing all the class materials (if applicable) that I will use during the tutor session (for example: printing out the homework assignment, finding/printing out/reading the textbook chapter that we are planning to go over, etc.). Essentially, the prep-work is done on my own time outside of the actual tutoring session. I can spend up to 2 or more hours preparing. I'm determined to make the tutor session as incredible as possible, so I dedicate as much time as I deem necessary to prepare for a session, thus my prep-times vary depending on the difficulty of the subject material that we are covering. A student is not charged for the "prep-time" until our second lesson.
