About Dylan

Âllo! My name is Dylan Pelletier, M.A., and I am a Franco-American educator with five years of advanced study in French language, culture, and education.

I initially began studying French in college simply because of my passion for the language, without knowing where it would lead. With the support of exceptional educators, I quickly advanced in my studies. After being invited by the University of Maine to tutor students in intermediate French, I discovered my passion for helping others learn the language through lessons that are engaging, relevant, and meaningful.

Since then, I have worked with students, faculty, and Francophone organizations across the University of Maine, including the Franco-American Centre and the Canadian-American Center. Through these experiences, I have developed a student-centered approach that emphasizes communication, cultural understanding, and confidence in using French in real-world settings.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed around the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, with a focus on the Five Cs: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. These standards create meaningful language-learning experiences that prepare learners for success in academic, professional, and social settings.

Each lesson is thoughtfully differentiated to provide learners with choice, encourage active participation, and foster the development of new skills. Rather than relying primarily on lectures, my lessons emphasize discussion-based, interactive learning that builds engagement, confidence, and real-world communication skills in French.

As a Franco-American from northern Maine, I have a natural passion for the French language and its history. Having studied under professors from Québec, Acadie, France, and Maine, I can provide instruction in the dialects and cultural perspectives of each of these French-speaking communities.

Lessons and tutoring are available for students ages 11 and older, including those enrolled in French courses from grades 6–12, as well as undergraduate and graduate-level French studies.
