About JILLIANNE

I have been working as a tutor since 2022, and have genuinely enjoyed learning to inspire and encourage students academically and otherwise. I enjoy my studies at UIC as a Chemistry undergrad, and am excited to share more of my knowledge with other students and peers. My strengths are in test prep, math, physics and chemistry. Based in the Schaumburg area, I don't mind a bit of travel to see student, but I also enjoy online tutoring sessions.

About the lesson

I usually do an hour to an hour and a half sessions including a recap of last sessions, taking questions on homework since the last session and start with helping with that or any other related work the student may have.

I also lay out as much of a plan as the student is comfortable, which is tailored to each student individually.

This tailored lesson plan may include explanation of the topic, teaching a new topic or related material, example problems, problems worked with the student, as well as talking over solutions and related topic skills. Some students also prefer to have a small 5 minute break during their sessions, which I will chat, and encourage students with their studies.

I usually wrap up the last 10-15 minutes of the session asking how the student feels with the information, scheduling a new session and general chat. I also offer every student a copy of my notes I take during the tutoring session.

My goals are always to improve the student's skills and technique in the subject, as well as form a trusting connection.
