About Ani

I have been practicing art seriously for over 10 years and have shown in several Chicago galleries. As a teacher, I draw inspiration from the many wonderful art teachers and mentors in the subject that I have had, who have shaped me not only as an artist, but as a person as well. I am a queer neurodivergent artist and I believe that art is an essential part of life. I find joy in helping guide adults in their artistic journeys, and I also have over 5 years of experience working with children.

About the lesson

I am a compassionate and patient teacher, and I have loved working with a wide range of ages. I believe learning how to make any kind of art is all about learning to harness your intuition and imagination. I have been practicing art seriously for over 10 years and am eager to share my knowledge. I believe that it is best to start with the basics. Learning to draw from observation is where I began as an art student and it provides a solid base for wherever you wish to go as artist. It requires you to develop fine motor skills as well as discipline and an artistic eye. I find that building confidence in your own abilities is also essential, which is why encouragement and compassion are core aspects of my teaching methodology. I try my best to promote growth by maintaining a good balance between critical technical feedback, and encouragement. And of course needs vary greatly based on age, and from student to student as well.
