About Maia
I have my bachelors degree in music, and was a high achiever in performance at Otago University.
I am a contemporary singer with a focus on original music, indie/folk, blues, jazz, pop and musical theatre.
I have a passion for singing and would love to help others achieve their goals. I have knowledge about vocal anatomy, how to protect your voice, different styles of singing and would love to help you with any goals!
As well as singing, I also teach:
- Song Writing, I have written my own songs since age 6. I have completed song writing papers at university with an A. Song writing is a huge passion of mine and I would love to help you find your way.
- Beginners guitar, I have been playing guitar for over 10 years now.
- Music theory, I completed music theory at university and am happy to help up to NCEA Level 3.

I love for my teaching to be student led so that my students can sing what they enjoy and learn how best works for them. I strive to have something to work towards such as a performance for family and friends. I am constructive and offer exqmples or techniques to get through difficult areas but also believe that focusing on the good is also very important.

Perfect! You absolutely must see Maia for singing lessons!
She is highly qualified, has a warm caring personality and a beautiful home where she holds lessons.
In one hour she completely undid a lifetime of negative feedback about my ability to sing - thank you so much Maia and I can't wait for our next lesson!View more reviews
