About Maia
I have my bachelors degree in music, and was a high achiever in performance at Otago University.
I am a contemporary singer with a focus on original music, indie/folk, blues, jazz, pop and musical theatre.
I have a passion for singing and would love to help others achieve their goals. I have knowledge about vocal anatomy, how to protect your voice, different styles of singing and would love to help you with any goals!
As well as singing, I also teach:
- Song Writing, I have written my own songs since age 6. I have completed song writing papers at university with an A. Song writing is a huge passion of mine and I would love to help you find your way.
- Beginners guitar, I have been playing guitar for over 10 years now.
- Music theory, I completed music theory at university and am happy to help up to NCEA Level 3.

I love for my teaching to be student led so that my students can sing what they enjoy and learn how best works for them. I strive to have something to work towards such as a performance for family and friends. I am constructive and offer exqmples or techniques to get through difficult areas but also believe that focusing on the good is also very important.
