About Gurleen

Having been on tutoring for over four years now with experience of both groups and individual tutoring sessions, I have gained hundreds of lessons of experience helping me become a more effective tutor. I have tutored both A level and GCSE level maths and physics, as well as A level psychology, GCSE geography and some KS3 sciences and maths.
In lessons I like to use active recall throughout to ensure that students are absorbing the material. ,A typical session will start with a few questions to assess a student's initial understanding of a topic. We then go through the content—focusing only on areas where they need support—before finishing with some exam-style questions to consolidate their learning
My speciality is AQA for most subjects, the main exception to that is A level maths in which I did OCR.
Currently I study natural sciences in university (physics, maths, and psychology), having studied these and geography at A level and achieving 4 A*'s. My next step will likely be a masters in psychology.
What makes me a great tutor is that I am patient by nature and I understand the situation you are in, this means I will always make sure you understand what you are required to know, and ensure I find a way of tutoring that best suits you, whether that be by doing numerous exam questions to ensure knowledge or by gaining understanding through analogies to sports.

About the lesson

I like to prepare thoroughly for lessons and always review the topic beforehand so I can confidently answer any questions a student may have. I use the first session as an opportunity for an initial assessment, where we identify the key topics the student would like to focus on. This allows me to tailor future lessons to their specific needs.
Each lesson includes a mix of teaching methods, such as interactive activities, relevant YouTube links, and close reference to the exam specification. I typically end sessions with a short recap quiz to reinforce the content and check for understanding. When we complete a topic, we always go through exam questions to consolidate knowledge and identify any gaps that need addressing.
To help students achieve their goals, I make sure we set clear objectives early on and regularly refer back to them to stay on track. My aim is always to help students reach their full potential.
I believe in creating a supportive learning environment, where students feel comfortable making mistakes—because that's how learning happens. I'm a patient tutor, and I’m always happy to revisit topics as many times as needed, or explain things in different ways to suit the student’s learning style.
Ultimately, I'm here to help students, and I strongly encourage questions at any time. I truly believe in the phrase "there are no silly questions"—this is a space to learn, grow, and feel confident.
