About Declan
I have a BFA in Film Directing from the University of North Carolina School of The Arts, one of the top film schools in the country! For the past seven years I have been writing films and have produced 30+ short films and two features. For 3 consecutive years, I have taught at the highly competitive UNCSA summer intensive. Each year, one of my students has won the "best screenplay" award at the end of the program. I take pride in my teaching abilities. I am an award-winning screenwriter and have written in pretty much every genre I can think of. I have taken extensive courses on theory and practice and am extremely confident in my storytelling abilities.

I have an extensive teaching background in screenwriting and am an expert in Final Draft Pro. If you are looking to advance your craft and techniques in the world of screenwriting, I'm your man. Structure and Character are my utmost priorities. Depending on your experience, we will start with screenwriting formatting. What to do and what not to do. Then we will dive into structure and outlining. If you have an idea, we will use that. We will figure out the best way for you to put your story to paper. We will go over 3-act structure, character development, themes, and more. Then I will have you write a short draft and send it over. In our second lesson, I will go over the draft with you and you will apply the feedback to your work in the future. We will also go over more advanced techniques. And from there, your filmmaking journey will begin!
