About Julian
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from California Lutheran University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named to the Dean’s List every year. As a skilled multi-instrumentalist, I have a strong foundation in music theory, production, and performance, with over six years of experience in stage setup and live show support, as well as a year of radio hosting. My performance specialties include Keyboard, Bass guitar, and Vocals, and I’m well-versed in sight-reading, conducting, and film music history, as well as music history as a whole. Additionally, my background in jazz theory and fluency in jazz standards have shaped my musical voice and improvisational ability across genres. My greatest strengths lie in my adaptability, organization, and collaboration. I bring a balance of artistic sensitivity and technical proficiency—especially in radio and music production—that makes me a reliable contributor in both creative and logistical settings. Above all, I am passionate about music and communication, always seeking new ways to connect with audiences and support the arts community.

When it comes to teaching, my philosophy is rooted in the mentorship I received during my time in higher education. Though the material was rigorous, my instructors were consistently present—walking beside me through each challenge. That supportive approach is at the core of how I teach. If a student is struggling with a piece or concept, I won’t hesitate to sing or play alongside them, helping to build their confidence and comfort. While it’s easy to hand over a piece and say, “Start practicing,” I believe real growth comes from knowing your instructor is right there with you—offering encouragement, guidance, and gentle nudges forward. I strive to be that kind of teacher: present, supportive, and invested in each student’s journey.
