About Joseph

I am 31 yrs old and a self-employed music teacher in guitar but I also teach piano. I first began learning guitar at the age of 8, where I had classical guitar lessons. When I went on to secondary school that's where my passion for electric guitar began. I achieved grades 1, 2 & 3 in Rockschool examinations. This then helped me move on to studying music performance at Lewisham College where I started to explore playing within a band and attending gigs in South London such as Amersham Arms, Fox and Firkin, as well as Lewisham College events. After college, I went on to study Guitar at BIMM Brighton where I achieved a bachelor's degree. During this time I had also formed my own band called Blue Hour, where I performed around Brighton and Hove city.

About the lesson

I believe anyone of all ages is capable of picking up a guitar to learn their favourite tune without any extensive knowledge required. I teach primary school students guitar and piano with fun interactive games to get their creative minds working whilst encouraging important techniques to build upon. Lessons will revolve around various books to learn songs from and ideally help students achieve grades. I've helped students with Rockschool books between grades 1-3 for electric guitar. All styles can be covered from rock, blues, jazz, pop & funk.
