About Marie
Marie is passionate about helping students achieve academic success and is a firm believer in lifelong learning. She has 18 years of teaching experience specializing in ELA, ESL, and test preparation at the high school and college levels in the USA, UK, Poland, and Southeast Asia. She has a graduate degree in Applied Linguistics with a specialization in TESOL and is CELTA qualified. She is currently working on completing a second master’s degree in education specializing in English Language Arts. One of her unique qualities as a teacher is her strong commitment to individual students and the challenges they face as no two learners are alike. In the classroom, Marie takes on an active role to support students to become self-directed in their learning to reach their full potential.

Courses are taught using inquiry-based learning which combines a student-centered approach where students actively explore questions and discover knowledge through investigation with the flexibility of the flipped classroom model where students access foundational information outside of class, allowing for deeper engagement and critical thinking activities during class time.
Students learn foundational concepts using pre-class readings and videos, then use class time to investigate and work through the material at a more advanced level with 1:1 teacher support. By using class time for inquiry-based activities, students can practice critical thinking by applying knowledge, evaluating evidence, and constructing arguments, going beyond simple recall.
