About Alton

My commitment to professionalism and clarity means that every lesson is well-organized, supportive, and tailored to your specific goals. I take pride in my clear communication and positive approach, ensuring that you always feel engaged, confident, and respected. Let’s work together to unlock your full potential!

About the lesson

I use an interactive and student-centered approach that leverages students’ existing skills and experiences. My lessons are highly tailored to each student’s strengths and interests. For a Grade 12 student with a strong background in law and debate, I focus on fostering critical thinking, advanced reading comprehension, persuasive writing, and articulate speaking. If you're struggling with public speaking, confidence and pronunciation, these are all issues I may help in.

A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
A short warm-up or discussion prompt connected to current events or legal issues.
Reading a complex text (e.g., an article, excerpt, or speech) with a focus on analysis and argumentation.
Breaking down writing techniques (e.g., thesis development, rhetorical devices, structure).
Practicing oral expression through debate exercises or mini-presentations.
Providing individualized feedback and setting goals for improvement.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor is my ability to connect literacy and communication skills to real-world issues and debates. I tailor every lesson to the student’s interests—like law and debate—and ensure that they’re not just learning generic skills but practicing in a context that excites them. My extensive knowledge of legal concepts and debate strategies means I can challenge advanced students to refine their arguments or thesis to an elevated level.

Who My Lessons Are For
These lessons are designed for anyone at any age who may be struggling in reading, writing and speaking English. They’re ideal for students currently in elementary school who want a head start or those in high school aiming to reach a higher English mark.
