About Ibrahim
Hi, I’m Ibrahim, an Engineering student at McMaster University with a strong passion for mathematics and problem-solving. Having studied the Cambridge curriculum myself and received two Cambridge Learner Awards, I understand both the challenges students face and what it takes to succeed in exams.
As a tutor, I focus on making difficult concepts simple, building strong foundations, and helping students become confident, independent problem-solvers. I aim to create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving.
Whether you are struggling with a topic or aiming for a higher grade, I will work with you to build a clear and organized path toward your goals.

I focus on building a strong foundation in mathematics by making sure students understand the concepts before moving on to problem-solving. Rather than simply giving students the answer, I encourage them to explain concepts in their own words. This allows me to assess their understanding and identify any gaps in their knowledge.
After introducing a concept, we work through example problems together before moving toward independent practice. I give students clear targets to work toward so that they can see their own progress and know exactly what they need to improve.
I also believe that organization is an important part of successful learning. Each student will have a learning diary where they can keep track of their yearly schedule, topics covered, homework, goals, and areas that need additional practice. This allows both the student and me to clearly see their progress throughout the year.
A Typical 60-Minute Lesson
5 minutes: Review material from the previous lesson
5 minutes: Introduce the objectives and goals for the current lesson
15 minutes: Learn and understand the new concept
15 minutes: Work through example problems together
15 minutes: Student independently solves problems while I provide guidance when needed
5 minutes: Summarize the key ideas, review progress, and assign targeted homework
My goal is not simply to help students complete their homework. I want them to develop the confidence and problem-solving skills to approach unfamiliar questions independently.
I have a strong understanding of Cambridge assessment and exam styles, having received two Cambridge Learner Awards myself. This experience has taught me how to approach different syllabi, identify the most important topics, and focus on the knowledge and problem-solving skills students need to perform well in their examinations.
Additionally, I am currently an Engineering student at McMaster University, where I use mathematics and science extensively in my studies. This allows me to explain concepts beyond the immediate requirements of a course and show students how different ideas connect together. My goal is to help students understand the complete concept while still staying focused on the requirements of their syllabus and examinations.
I teach middle school and high school mathematics, including pre-algebra, algebra, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. My specialties are Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics and IGCSE Additional Mathematics, where I can help students develop both a strong conceptual foundation and the exam-focused skills needed to succeed.
