About Anam Arafat

I am a research software engineer at Ansys UK where, I write software to perform engineering simulations. Before this, I did Bachelors and PhD on Aerospace Engineering from Queen Mary University and obtained A*, A* and A in GCE A-levels (EDEXCEL) Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I taught A -levels Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics from 2012-2016. During my PhD 2016-2020, I was a teaching assistant for Mathematics and Engineering modules at Queen Mary University.

I am returning to teaching again as my current remote working role allows me to have some time to help others.

About the lesson

I provide online tuition and offer flexible weekend and evening schedules. That way we are both comfortable during the session. I use a writing tablet and am open to whatever platform you prefer. It would be handy if you have a writing tablet as well.

A typical lesson lasts from 1-2 hours. After first few lessons, we would come up with a plan of how to go about mastering the topic in the given time frame. During a typical lesson where we start a new topic, I will provide an overview of the basics and exceptions and follow up with worked examples and let you attempt few problems. If we are working on an existing topic we would focus on resolving problems. Of course, we can have quick looks at other problems.

For A-level candidates, I focus on building solid foundation and near exam time rigorously train on solving past exam papers. During the concept development phase, I would often recommend relevant material online that may help your understanding. A solid foundation in the A-levels will help later during your time in university.

I will also be able to help you with topics other than A-level mathematics. You may have to allow me little time to study with you. These may include A level Physics, Chemistry. Bachelors/Masters Engineering modules. PhD research on engineering simulations.
