About Magnolia
Hi everyone! My name is Magnolia Militar, and I am really happy to be here. I finished my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, and I have been teaching children for four years now. For me, teaching is not just about giving information — it is about helping students get curious and excited to learn, especially in science. My most recent job was at a private school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where I worked for two years. That experience taught me a lot. I learned how to handle a classroom, adjust to different kinds of learners, and connect with students from many backgrounds. People sometimes ask me how teaching in a real classroom connects to teaching online. For me, it is really about the same thing — making students feel seen and heard, whether they are sitting in front of me or looking at me through a screen. I am comfortable with technology, and I know how to keep kids focused and interested. As an online science teacher, my goal is to make our classroom a fun and friendly place where students feel safe to ask questions and share their ideas. I expect my students to come ready to join in and be curious, and they can expect me to be patient, supportive, and creative. I plan to use things like games, hand gestures, fun challenges, and simple rewards to keep everyone engaged. I want science to feel exciting, not boring. My teaching method for middle school science combines hands-on experiments, visual aids, and inquiry-based questioning to spark curiosity and build foundational understanding. A typical lesson starts with a real-world hook, followed by guided exploration, a collaborative lab activity, and a quick formative check for understanding. What sets me apart is my ability to break down complex concepts into relatable, age-appropriate examples while keeping students actively engaged. My lessons are designed for middle school students (Grades 6–8), covering general science, life science, earth science, and physical science, tailored to diverse learning styles and curriculum standards.
