About Mihai

My name is Mihai, and I am an experienced and qualified Mathematics and Computer Science teacher with over 16 years of teaching in both private and mainstream schools in England. I also taught at university level.

Throughout my career, I have taught across Key Stages 3 to 5, supporting students in Mathematics and Computer Science at GCSE and A-Level. This has given me a strong understanding of the curriculum, exam requirements, and how to adapt my teaching to suit a wide range of abilities—from students building confidence to those aiming for top grades.

I am passionate about teaching because I have seen first-hand how the right guidance can transform a student’s confidence and understanding. Over the years, I have helped many students overcome challenges, develop strong foundations, and achieve meaningful academic progress.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have worked in machine learning, applying mathematics and programming in real-world contexts. This allows me to bring added depth to my lessons, helping students understand not only how concepts work, but also how they are used beyond the classroom.

My approach focuses on clear explanations, structured learning, and building confidence step by step. I take pride in breaking down complex topics into manageable parts, turning confusion into clarity and helping students realise their full potential.

What motivates me most is seeing students grow—whether that is gaining confidence in a subject they once found difficult or progressing towards high academic achievement. I aim to create lessons that are both effective and engaging, supporting long-term understanding as well as exam success.

For me, teaching is about more than exam results—it is about equipping students with the skills, confidence, and mindset that will support them long beyond their studies.

About the lesson

I specialise in tutoring Mathematics and Computer Science with a clear, structured, and results-focused approach.

My teaching methodology is centred on building strong foundations first, then developing confidence through guided practice and exam-style application. I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps, ensuring students fully understand the “why” behind each concept rather than just memorising methods. I also place strong emphasis on problem-solving techniques, exam strategy, and identifying patterns in mark schemes to help students maximise their results.

In Computer Science, I combine academic content with real-world applications, including programming in Python and an introduction to concepts from machine learning where appropriate. This helps students stay engaged and see the relevance of what they are learning.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although I also offer 90-minute sessions for more intensive exam preparation or advanced topics. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs, whether that is catching up on missed content, strengthening weak areas, or pushing for top grades.

I have a background in teaching as well as industry experience in machine learning, which allows me to bring both academic and practical perspectives into my sessions. This combination helps students not only succeed in exams but also develop a deeper understanding of Maths and Computer Science.

My lessons are suitable for:
• GCSE and A-Level Mathematics
• GCSE and A-Level Computer Science
• Students learning Python or introductory programming
• Students interested in going beyond the curriculum, including foundations of AI and machine learning

I work with a range of students, from those aiming to build confidence and pass their exams to high-achieving students targeting top grades.

My goal is to create a supportive and focused learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, make consistent progress, and achieve their full potential.
