About Paul

I help students develop clear, analytical writing and confident, independent thinking — the skills that drive success in GCSE, A Level and university study.
I specialise in helping students produce clear, well-structured writing and thoughtful, analytical responses, moving beyond basic answers to confident, high-level work.
I have worked extensively in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including as Headmaster of a leading A Level college in Malaysia, where students progressed to top international universities.
I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and bring a structured, methodical approach to improving both writing accuracy and essay quality.
Based in Cyprus, I concentrate on working online with GCSE, A Level and university students.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, focused and tailored to the specific demands of GCSE, A Level English and higher learners.
I specialise in developing clear, well-structured essays, precise textual analysis, and confident, independent argument
Students are encouraged to share work or topics in advance so that lessons can be carefully prepared and highly targeted. This allows us to use time efficiently and focus on the areas that will make the greatest difference.
In addition to live lessons, I provide detailed written feedback on essays and assignments, including clear guidance for improvement and, where appropriate, model responses. This ensures that steady progress between sessions builds students' confidence in both writing and exam technique. Additionally, I work with adult learners and university students, offering support in academic writing, essay structure and critical analysis at undergraduate level and above.
I also offer optional short sessions focused on exam confidence and stress management, supporting students to perform at their best under pressure.

My rates reflect my experience and the level of preparation involved in each lesson. Sessions are carefully planned and tailored in advance to ensure that students make clear and measurable progress.

I offer discounts for block bookings of five or ten lessons, although individual lessons can also be arranged where appropriate.

In addition to live lessons, I provide detailed written feedback on essays and assignments. This can be arranged separately or as part of an ongoing programme of study, depending on the student’s needs.
