About Lindsi

I am a fully qualified and highly experienced English teacher with over 20 years in secondary education, including leadership as a Head of English. I hold a BA (Hons) in English Literature (2:1) and a PGCE in Secondary English, and I have extensive experience teaching and preparing students for GCSE AQA English Language and English Literature.

Alongside my classroom career, I have several years of successful tutoring experience, supporting both GCSE and KS3 students. I have a strong track record of helping students improve their confidence, develop clear exam techniques, and achieve measurable progress in their work.

My approach is professional, well-structured, and tailored to each individual. Lessons are carefully planned, focused on clear outcomes, and supported by targeted feedback so that students always understand how to improve. About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is structured, supportive, and focused on helping students make clear, measurable progress. I tailor every lesson to the individual, ensuring that each student understands both the content and the skills needed to succeed.

Teaching methodology and techniques:
I use a clear, step-by-step approach to teaching, breaking down complex skills into manageable parts. Lessons typically include a short review of prior learning, explicit teaching or modelling of a key skill, followed by guided and independent practice. For GCSE students, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique—helping students understand how to interpret questions, structure their responses, and meet the requirements of AQA mark schemes. I use model answers, targeted feedback, and regular practice to build confidence and improve performance.

For KS3 students and those needing additional support, I focus on strengthening core reading and writing skills, including phonics where appropriate, to ensure strong foundations for future learning.

Typical lesson length:
Lessons are usually 60 minutes, which allows time for teaching, practice, and feedback. Longer sessions can be arranged if required, particularly closer to exams.

Qualifications and experience:
I hold a BA (Hons) in English Literature (2:1) and a PGCE in Secondary English. I have over 20 years of experience as a secondary English teacher, including serving as a Head of English. In addition, I have several years of tutoring experience, including three years supporting GCSE students and four years working with KS3 learners, as well as providing phonics and literacy catch-up support.

Who my lessons are for:
I work with students aged 11–18, specialising in KS3 English and GCSE AQA English Language and English Literature. I support a wide range of abilities, from students aiming to secure a pass to those working towards the highest grades.

Overall, my aim is to provide clear, structured lessons in a supportive environment, helping students build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve their full potential.
