About Oliver

Hi, I’m Oliver! I recently completed my A-levels, including Maths, and I enjoy helping younger students understand topics that can initially seem difficult or confusing.

Having recently been through GCSE and A-level Maths myself, I understand the challenges students face and the pressure that can come with exams. I aim to explain concepts in a simple and approachable way, adapting my teaching to how each student learns best.

I’m patient, friendly and encouraging, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions when they don’t understand something. Whether a student is struggling with Maths, preparing for the 11+ or aiming for a higher GCSE grade, my goal is to help them become more confident and independent in their problem-solving.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is focused on making maths clear, structured and less intimidating. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level and the specific areas they need to improve, rather than using the same approach for everyone.

I place a strong emphasis on past-paper practice and exam-style questions, especially for GCSE students. This helps students become familiar with the types of questions they are likely to face, improve their problem-solving skills and learn how to pick up marks efficiently. I also focus on specific weak topics, breaking them down step by step before gradually increasing the difficulty.

Lessons are usually around 60 minutes, although this can be adjusted depending on the student’s age, concentration and goals.

I have strong experience studying maths at A-level and understand the transition from 11+ and Key Stage maths through to GCSE level. My lessons are aimed at students preparing for the 11+, Key Stage 3 and GCSE Maths, including students who want to improve their confidence, catch up on weaker topics or push towards higher grades.

I aim to keep lessons friendly and supportive while still making sure students are challenged and making clear progress each week.
