About Matthew
I am a current Graduate Entry Medicine student at University College Cork with a background in Exercise and Health Science. Having gone through the graduate medicine application process myself, I understand how challenging and uncertain GAMSAT preparation can feel, particularly when it comes to Section 2.
My interest is in helping students improve their written communication by developing clearer thinking, stronger essay structure, and more confident argument-building under timed conditions. I aim to make sessions practical, supportive, and focused on giving students a repeatable approach they can apply to any prompt.
Alongside medicine, I have experience in coaching and teaching roles, which has shaped my approach to tutoring. I try to help students build independence and confidence rather than simply memorizing notes or model essays.

My teaching approach is centred on helping students think clearly and independently, rather than relying on memorised notes or pre-written essays. In GAMSAT Section 2, I encourage students to break down prompts, identify the key theme, develop their own perspective, and build a structured argument under timed conditions.
My aim is to improve the student’s problem-solving process: how they generate ideas, organise their thoughts, choose examples, and express themselves clearly. I provide detailed feedback on essay structure, argument quality, clarity, and depth, while helping students develop a repeatable method they can use confidently in the exam.
Rather than giving students fixed templates to memorise, I focus on teaching them how to approach unfamiliar prompts with confidence and produce thoughtful, mature, and well-structured responses.
