About Fiaz

A well experienced, genuinely passionate Mathematics teacher.

I have spent over 5 years working in Secondary schools teaching a broad range of student abilities across the age ranges.

I am an energetic tutor and demand the same from all my pupils. I often challenge students to match my work rate - if you have the motivation to do so......the results will speak for themselves!

About the lesson

Challenging, progressive, enjoyable. All of my lessons will seek to embed these 3 core principles to ensure best outcomes for Students.

Challenging - Content should be challenging rather than (unnecessary) consolidation.
I will not waste Student/Teacher time "teaching" concepts that have already been well grasped by the student.

Progressive - Progress is key. Attainment is a necessary by-product of progress. This focus on consistent improvement and marginal gains is what allows ALL students to make good progress and improve from THEIR own individual starting base. Top/Middle/Lower "ability" Maths students - all are welcome and all can achieve!

Enjoyable - As a teacher in Secondary schools for over 5 years, my core strength lies in my ability to build strong, mutual relationships with my students. This allows students to feel relaxed during their learning, confident to ask any questions to aid their understanding and overcoming issues of "Maths Anxiety". We often end lessons with a challenge question which we work on together. This is usually well above the grade at which the student is currently working at - something to aspire to and also a real confidence booster. Students are often amazed at how much they actually do know!!
