About Lerato

To my future students,*

Hi, I’m your teacher.

I’m someone who believes every question matters, even the ones that feel “silly.” I’m patient when Maths gets tricky, excited when a story in English makes us think differently, and proud when you find your voice in Afrikaans.

I’m interested in teaching because I remember what it felt like to be stuck on a problem, to be scared to speak, or to not see why a subject matters. A good teacher helped me through that. Now I want to be that person for you.

To me, teaching isn’t just about marks and tests. In Maths I want to teach you how to think logically and not give up. In Afrikaans I want to help you connect to the language and use it with confidence. In English I want to help you tell your story clearly so the world can hear you.

Most of all, I’m here because I believe in you. My job is to make the classroom a place where it’s safe to try, to fail, and to grow. If we do that together, we’ll learn a lot more than just subjects.

About the lesson

Teaching is not just about getting answers right. In my Maths, Afrikaans and English classes, I focus on the bigger skills that help learners grow in and outside the classroom.

In Maths, I teach learners that problems are puzzles, not obstacles. The lessons are about logic, patience, and breaking big challenges into small steps. I want students to see that making mistakes is part of learning, and that every method, even the wrong one, teaches us something. Confidence in Maths comes from practice and understanding the "why" behind the formula.

In *Afrikaans*, the lessons go beyond grammar and vocabulary. I teach appreciation for language, culture, and expression. We work on reading with understanding, writing with voice, and speaking with confidence. My goal is for learners to feel proud using Afrikaans, whether in a formal essay or a casual conversation.

In English I focus on communication. The lessons centre on clarity, critical thinking, and empathy. Through reading, writing, and discussion, students learn to express their ideas, listen to others, and understand different .perspectives.
