About Zainab
My name is Zainab, and I'm currently in Year 13 at Tiffin Girls' School, studying Biology, Psychology, and Religious philosophy. I'm hoping to find some more tutoring experience because I love working alongside children, especially those who may require some extra help. I'd like to gain as much experience as I can to advance my future career in residential child care work.

Over the past couple of years, I've worked alongside many different types of children, ranging from those who love to learn and read to those who can't stand it. What I found was that there is no such thing as a "difficult" child, only one who felt they weren't being listened to, or being talked at by a stranger. This is why I like to build a relationship with my students first, so I can understand their style of learning and adapt to their needs to help them engage with lessons. I find that with this approach, students are much more likely to feel comfortable enough to ask questions and have fun, making their learning much more effective overall.
In lessons, I ask my students which topics they feel they struggle with the most, and we use short quizzes as a diagnostic tool for subjects they may not be as proficient in. Activities in the lesson vary depending on age; with younger students, I link the content with their interests, and with older students, I help them attempt exam style questions, as well as supplying tips that I picked up from my own 11+ experience. Since every child is different, lesson structure is as flexible as possible to accommodate their needs.
