About Rachael

Every individual is different and so are their learning styles. I believe that as a tutor, I have the patience needed to guide every student exploring various approaches to match their individual needs. I will do everything I can to help turn dreams into reality.

I am a freelance musician working in London and Kent as a flute teacher and private tutor. I am also studying Music at masters level at Goldsmiths, University of London.

I have an undergraduate degree in Music and have achieved grade 8 (ABRSM) in the flute and play the piano at grade 5 (ABRSM) standard.

As well as having the experience of one to one teaching in my current work in flute, mathematics and the sciences, I have worked with groups as a teaching assistant in several voluntary organisations where I taught piano, guitar, ukulele, voice and djembe.

In recent years, I have worked closely with young people through a Math Mentoring Scheme after achieving a Silver Award in the UKMT Maths Challenge. Since being enrolled with the YG&T, I have taught Maths and the Sciences informally to GCSE students. I have attended a verified Peer Mentoring and Peer Listening course, so am experienced in working with adults and children on a one to one basis sensitively and confidentially.

I currently sing as a soprano in the choir of St George’s Church, Beckenham where I sing at morning Eucharist and Choral Evensong on a weekly basis. I also take part in concerts and tours both in UK cathedrals and abroad. Previous church choirs include St Margaret's Church, Lee and St John the Baptist, Catford.

As a flautist, I perform as a soloist in concerts in various venues in London and perform at weddings and funerals. I have also performed in many orchestral performances.

Despite many obstacles, my passion for learning helped me push myself to follow my dreams. My aim now is to inspire others to do the same.
