About Jean

I have a business background, but I have always had a leaning to helping people, and especially children, to learn and like to share my knowledge. I recently had hands on experience with children between the ages of 6 and 8 years old whose first language was not English and I loved working with and helping them. On a personal note, my son had a learning disability and battled with reading, writing, listening and understanding. At the outset, from his entry into pre-school, I became very involved in his learning. My assistance has covered areas that have required patience, understanding the difficulties of learning something new, and assisting with regard to different ways of learning, i.e. self-talk, mind mapping, association, use of visual material and doing, using play and games. English is a difficult language to learn and requires patience and understanding to transfer, explain and simplify effectively, to enable beginners to understand.

About the lesson

I enjoy using flashcards, pictures, telling stories and playing games. I love using props during my lessons and the things I use help to make learning exciting and fun. I believe that if you do something of interest with your students, something they can see and do, they are more likely to remember the experience. I love teaching and helping children learn English and I am kind and patient. I like to encourage my students to talk and learn new words and practice pronunciation.
