About YILAN
Hello! My name is Isla and I am a native Mandarin speaker from China, currently studying Japanese and Chinese Studies at the University of Sydney.
I have a strong interest in languages, travel and cultural exchange. Having visited more than 20 countries, I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about their cultures and perspectives.
Outside of my studies, I work in hospitality and communication-focused roles, which has helped me develop strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with people easily. I enjoy helping others feel comfortable, supported and confident when communicating in a new language.

As a native Chinese speaker currently studying Japanese and Chinese Studies at the University of Sydney, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and aim to make lessons engaging, relaxed and supportive.
I adapt each lesson to the student’s level and goals. Whether you want to improve everyday conversation, pronunciation, or learn more about Chinese culture, I can help you develop natural and confident communication skills.
Because I have travelled to more than 20 countries and experienced different cultures, I enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to practice and make progress.
