About Maya

I am a passionate language teacher with a degree in French and Spanish from the University of Oxford. Studying languages at university gave me not only a deep understanding of French and Spanish, but also a genuine appreciation for the cultures, literature, and people behind the languages.

During my Year Abroad, I taught English in both Paris and Madrid, an experience that confirmed my ambition to pursue a career in language education. Working with students from different backgrounds showed me how rewarding it is to help others grow in confidence and achieve their goals.

I am an enthusiastic, approachable, and encouraging tutor who genuinely enjoys helping students discover that languages can be both accessible and enjoyable. I know that many people have had uninspiring experiences learning languages at school, particularly in the UK, and I love helping students change that perception. Seeing someone become more confident and begin to enjoy communicating in another language is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, taking into account their goals, current level, learning style, and pace of progress. Whether you're preparing for KS3, GCSE or A Level exams, improving your conversational skills, or learning a language for personal or professional reasons, lessons are designed around what will help you progress most effectively.

My lessons are interactive, engaging, and supportive, with plenty of opportunities to practise speaking, build confidence, and reinforce grammar and vocabulary in a practical way. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and actively using the language.

I teach learners of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to advanced students. Lessons can be adapted in both content and length to suit your individual needs, ensuring that each session is productive, enjoyable, and focused on helping you achieve your goals.
