About Nanda

I grew up in a bilingual household in Portugal and last summer graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (Hons) 2:1 degree in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies.

During my time there, I tutored both private and group classes for the university ranging from beginner to advanced level. This included students from complete beginner level to students studying the language at university.

About the lesson

My teaching method is personalised to what the student needs. I organise interactive fun exercises for the classes to keep enthusiasm for the language at an optimum level for beginner levels and choose interesting and current topics to discuss and work on for advanced learners.

I use the first class (FREE!) to establish the student's level and from there I will work out their strengths and weaknesses and cater towards the individual, as I believe no student is the same.

I am open to teach Portuguese to anyone who is in any level of education of any age range as well as people who just wish to practice or are interested in learning something new! I love including information about Portuguese culture too from the arts to sports.

I also have a wide range of supplementary material from which I encourage students to engage with depending on personal interests. For example; Portuguese films, magazine articles, music and other popular culture media.

I have seen my methods and dedication to my students pay off and have felt very rewarded when their goals are achieved and love for languages grow!

Another thing I really appreciated was her availability to work with me around my awkward schedule! Nanda also planned personalized classes for me as I was more interested in the arts so she introduced to some new things I found interesting which made learning Portuguese a lot more enjoyable too. Currently operating online from Portugal due to national restrictions.
Lessons are £16 p/h, £75 if bought upfront in a pack of 5 hours, or £150 if bought upfront in a pack of 10 hours.

For lessons in pairs I apply a special 25% discount per person - both on singular classes & packages. i.e 2 people , 1 hour = £24/hr , 5 hours = £112.5, 10 hours = £225

Every lesson includes an interactive powerpoint which is then uploaded on to a private google classroom for students to review in their own time, and a short personalised report on their strongest areas and those that could be worked on.

I am available to help students with any queries they may have even outside of lesson time and will happily recommend external sources most aligned with their interests that they can use to fuel their learning!
