About Seren
I’m an English and History undergraduate and I want to teach at the University of York, and I’d like to teach because I enjoy helping others. Throughout my school years I helped explain concepts in a range of subjects to my friends and believe that I do it well. Teaching history is not only enjoyable because I get to help students, but also because I get to engage in debates with them as debate is an intrinsic part of the study of history. Additionally, I aspire to become a university lecturer in the future so tutoring would be great experience.

My approach is to explain historical events in a way that makes them more understandable to students today. I make connections between history and the present to put history into perspective and make it easier to understand. I’m very patient and explain concepts in a straightforward manner. When tutoring history, I make sure to explain smaller details as well as the bigger picture.
