About Joelle

Hi there! I am a psychology specialist with a master's degree and graduate membership with the British Psychological Society. While I do not come from a traditional classroom teaching background, I love bringing a gentle, real-world perspective to the subject. I have spent the last nine years working across the mental health and education sectors, including roles as a children's psychologist, a teaching assistant, and an academic achievement coach. My whole career has been about taking complex psychological ideas and making them feel simple, approachable, and easy to understand in everyday life.

I chose to step into teaching and mentoring because I have seen firsthand how much a student’s confidence can blossom when they feel truly heard and supported. For me, teaching isn't just about passing on facts from a textbook; it is about helping you find your own voice in the subject, easing the academic pressure, and showing you that you are entirely capable of succeeding. There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing that moment of relief when a difficult concept finally clicks and a student realises, I can do this.

About the lesson

Learning should feel like a safe, comforting space rather than a source of stress. Because everyone learns differently, we will never use a one-size-fits-all approach in our time together. I love finding creative, patient ways to explain tricky concepts until everything clicks for you. Having navigated a master's degree and spent years working as an academic achievement coach, I can help you figure out exactly what examiners are looking for, share practical study strategies, and master your essay structures. Furthermore, because of my deep, hands-on background as a children's psychologist, I care immensely about your emotional well-being. We will work together one step at a time to build your confidence, manage time effectively, and completely overcome exam anxiety and overwhelm.
