About Margaret
Guitar is part of a four-year tutoring career during which I have taught 155 students, mostly younger beginners picking up an instrument for the first time. My own musical background includes informal performance experience and a genuine enthusiasm for helping nervous beginners feel comfortable quickly. My teaching style is playful and energetic, and I use humor to reduce the intimidation many students feel when starting guitar for the first time. I particularly enjoy working with students convinced their fingers simply are not suited to the instrument, since that belief almost always changes once early progress becomes visible. Watching a shy beginner play confidently is rewarding.

My guitar lessons stay playful and energetic, introducing a simple recognisable song within the very first session to keep motivation high rather than starting with dry technical drills. Basic chord shapes are taught through simple games and repetition, keeping the beginner experience genuinely enjoyable rather than intimidating. Repertoire is chosen together with each student, prioritising songs they already love, since genuine enthusiasm produces far more consistent home practice than assigned material ever could achieve alone. I record short instructional clips for tricky chord changes, giving students a clear reference to review at home. Sessions stay energetic throughout, treating mistakes as a normal part of learning.
