About Serena

I am a French tutor with over four years of experience and hold a Bachelor of Education in French as a Second Language. Over the years, I have worked with many complete beginners who started with little or no knowledge of French. I understand the challenges they face, and I make learning approachable with patience and a good sense of humour. My lessons are designed to be engaging and interactive, because I believe language learning should never feel dull. I use games, skits, flashcards, and storytelling to bring grammar and vocabulary to life. These activities help students remember words and rules while having fun. I also create a safe space where mistakes are seen as part of the learning journey, not something to fear. One of my greatest joys as a tutor is seeing students gain confidence in everyday French communication. Whether it’s greeting someone, ordering food, or holding a short conversation, I celebrate every milestone with them. Step by step, they become more comfortable and willing to use French in real situations. I encourage laughter, curiosity, and creativity in my lessons, because joy makes learning stick. My goal is to help students not only learn French but enjoy the process. Together, we can discover the playful side of learning and make French a language to love.

About the lesson

My teaching approach in French is designed to help students feel both comfortable and confident as they learn the language. I focus on practical communication skills, making sure learners can use French in real-life situations. Speaking speed and response timing are areas I work on carefully, so students become quicker and more natural in conversations. Grammar is taught in a clear and supportive way, with plenty of examples that show how rules apply in daily speech. I also use sentence-building games and creative exercises to make grammar practice fun and interactive. This helps students not only remember the rules but also use them with ease. For learners who are new to French, I provide patient guidance that builds a strong foundation step by step. For students with academic goals, I support deeper learning in areas like vocabulary, structure, and fluency for higher-level communication. Both groups benefit from consistent practice and methods that match their personal needs. I also use role-play, reading practice, and listening activities to strengthen all four skills—speaking, writing, reading, and comprehension. My lessons are adaptable, encouraging progress at a pace that feels achievable yet motivating. I believe language learning should be enjoyable, purposeful, and rewarding. With steady practice and the right strategies, I help students not only learn French but excel in it. My goal is to see every learner grow into a confident and fluent speaker.
