About Guy

I hold a B.A. in French, with extensive study of French language, culture, and literature. I have also lived, worked, and traveled extensively in Southern France. In 2011, I was awarded a Fulbright grant through the U.S. Department of State’s Classroom Teacher Exchange Program.

Throughout my teaching and tutoring career, I have worked with students of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. I have:

Prepared elementary, middle school, high school, and college students for beginner, intermediate, and advanced French courses

Prepared students traveling to France for the first time

Prepared a U.S. Navy SEAL for an international assignment

Helped a prospective French teacher prepare for and pass her New Jersey certification exam

Worked with a social worker preparing to work in Cameroon

Taught families preparing for extended stays in French-speaking countries

Helped a beginner develop the French skills he needed to pursue his master’s degree at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland

Helped a college student complete the entire French 1 curriculum in one summer so that he could confidently live and study at Université Laval in Québec

Whether a student is studying French for school, travel, work, relocation, or personal enrichment, I tailor my instruction to the student’s individual goals, level, and learning style.

About the lesson

For the past 20 years, I have helped elementary, middle school, high school, and college students succeed in beginner, intermediate, and advanced French courses. I have also worked with adult learners of all ages and backgrounds, tailoring lessons to each student’s individual goals and learning style.

I have lived, worked, and traveled extensively in Southern France and have been a private French tutor since 2005. Previously, I spent 20 years as a K–12 certified French teacher, teaching all levels of high school French, from French 1 through AP.

My extensive classroom experience, firsthand knowledge of French language and culture, and personalized approach allow me to help students build both their skills and their confidence in French.
