About Nikolas

I have 1 year of experience. I have a Bachelor's degree in French and a minor in Italian. I studied in Italy on two different occasions. Not only that, but I have stayed in various parts of France on multiple occasions for long periods. Staying with French-speaking families for 6-21 weeks at a time. I have been learning French for about 12 years. I have taken a lot interested in learning languages since I was young. I have also studied German and Arabic at the undergraduate level. Studying language to me opens your mind and allows you to connect with different people and cultures. Traveling to a country where the target language is spoken, makes the experience more enjoyable.

About the lesson

I like to give a practical approach to learning a language, and you would use the language in the real world. I like to give scenarios because this technique sticks better with students. Usage of the target language with real scenarios will allow the learner to internalize concepts of the language. This is also way more fun than just studying a lot of vocabulary. A typical lesson plan could be "how to ask directions at the train station" and what are the formal/informal ways of asking for these directions. Focusing on asking questions, we would be able to practice french sentence structure and french grammar. This lesson would also help the learner use important vocabulary that pertains to each subject. I think what would set me apart as a tutor is that I have grown up speaking the language in the house from a young age and that I have stayed in France with French families where I was forced to speak French. I also have a more cultural understanding having stayed closely with these French families. These lessons would be directed at those learning at a beginner level to an advanced level. I would be able to tutor high school level and undergraduate level.
