About Belle
I have a doctorate in French from ANU, and have taught French privately and at university for 15 years. I have also lived and studied in France. I have a great love for the French language and culture, and enjoy sharing my passion with students.

Bonjour! Whether you are an absolute beginner or you are looking to improve your French, I would be happy to help you! I teach all ages and levels, from children in primary school to adults.
My teaching covers all aspects of French: grammar, reading, writing, conversation, and listening. I use the best of old and new methods, combining traditional, time-tested methods like grammar exercises and reading texts in French, with creative, conversational games that will build your confidence in speaking French. Some of the features of my teaching style include:
*Clear explanations of French grammar and targeted exercises put grammar into practice - I show how grammar gives you the tools to express yourself in French
*Focus on improving the student's confidence and fluency in the spoken French in everyday situations
*Use of authentic French cultural material: songs, poems, art, articles from the French press
*Kind and encouraging teaching style - I adjust my teaching to suit your learning pace
*Fun and creative approach to learning the language! I incorporate games and role-play into lessons where possible.
Lessons are typically 1 hour long, but can be longer or shorter depending on your needs. In our first lesson, I will assess your level, and work out what your goals are (e.g. you want to improve your spoken French in preparation for an upcoming trip to France, or you need help with French grammar). I will then work out a program of study for you. I look forward to helping you!
