About Léo

I am a young French person who recently graduated with a master's degree in Applied Foreign Languages (English, French, German) in the University of Franche-Comté (Besançon, France).

I have been giving languages lessons both in France (English) and here in Edinburgh (French) for a bit more than 3 years (during my studies). I have been teaching languages to about 10 people, mostly students with different levels (from primary school to university level) but also to adults with a will to learn the language. All the students I have tutored have been succesful in their studies.
In fact, I taught French to my Scottish partner so he would be able to communicate with my French family. He got to a very comfortable level within just a few months (even though he was a beginner) allowing him to have proper conversations in French.

I am confident in my teaching and I have good experience thanks to my master's degree in languages and my different professional experiences (e.g I worked for a multilingual publisher, Migrilude, specialised in languages awareness and laguages teaching).

About the lesson

As a French student I first discovered Scotland during my Erasmus year and quickly fell in love with this beautiful country and its lovely people, which is why I decided to come back here now that I have completed my studies in France.

As said previously, I give lessons to a variety of learners including students from all level (beginner to advanced/ university level) but also to people who desire to learn for their own knowledge. I can teach both individually or to a group of people.

I divide my lessons into 4 categories (Reading and pronunciation, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Culture). However, not all lessons are focused on the 4 categories. For every new student I like to have an assessment to know on which point to focus and therefore providing them with the most adequate lessons. Both oral and written aspects of the languages are taught. I like to use support (videos, press articles, and so on) based on the interests of the student.

I am a patient, open-minded and kind tutor who like to take the time for student to make sure they understand and that they are improving. It is very important for me that students get to learn and have a good time doing so. I really love sharing my knowledge, especially when it comes to languages and French in particular, as it is a big part of who I am.
