About Ella
Hi! My name is Ella, and I'm a Psychology student at the University of Ottawa. I have a strong French-immersion background and have continued taking courses in French throughout my education.
I enjoy helping students feel more confident in school and making difficult material feel less overwhelming. I am patient, encouraging, and happy to explain things in different ways until they make sense. I also understand that every student learns differently, so I like to adapt my approach to what works best for each person.
I offer French and English tutoring, as well as homework help and general study-skills support for elementary and middle-school students. Whether a student needs help understanding a reading, completing an assignment, practicing French, or developing better study habits, I aim to create a comfortable environment where they can ask questions and learn without feeling judged.
As a current university student, I understand the importance of good organization and effective study habits, and I enjoy sharing the strategies that have helped me throughout my own education.
I look forward to helping students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and discover that learning doesn't have to be stressful!

My approach to tutoring is patient, encouraging, and personalized to each student's needs. I believe students learn best when they understand the material rather than simply memorizing it, so I focus on clear explanations, examples, and helping students develop strategies they can use independently.
I offer tutoring in French and English, as well as general homework and study-skills support. For French and English, I can help with reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and school assignments. I have a French-immersion background and understand the challenges that can come with learning and completing schoolwork in French.
I can also help students develop better study habits and organization skills. This can include learning how to plan homework, break larger assignments into smaller steps, take useful notes, prepare for tests, stay organized, and find study techniques that work for them.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in about what the student is currently working on and what they are finding difficult. We then review the material together, work through examples, and finish with practice or an activity that allows the student to apply what they learned. I adjust the pace and explanation style depending on the student's age, level, and learning needs.
What sets me apart is that I am a current Psychology student at the University of Ottawa with a French-immersion background. I understand what it is like to be a student and to sometimes feel overwhelmed by schoolwork. I aim to make learning feel less intimidating while helping students become more confident and independent.
My lessons are intended primarily for elementary and middle-school students, approximately Grades 1–8, who need additional support in French, English, homework, or general study skills. I am happy to work with students who need occasional help as well as students who would benefit from regular weekly tutoring.
My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling more confident about what they have learned and more prepared to tackle their schoolwork independently.
