About Dana

French is my first language. I have been teaching for 26 years. I am qualified to teach all divisions (senior, intermediate, junior, and primary). I have a B.A in French Literature with a minor in Linguistics. I have a specialist (Part 1, 2, 3) in French as Second Language. I am an active member of OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Teaching is my passion as I am consistently learning. It is a craft that I have to work on everyday. I have been told that I am good at igniting the joy of learning for life. Knowledge is freedom, just pass it on.

About the lesson

I believe in immerse and learn regardless of the student's level. It is important to listen and then speak. You have to read first then write. Grammar rules, and vocabulary building are effectively retained through meaningful learning activities. When it is theme based link to a reality, it is easier for the learner to make tangible connections.

I build my lesson around a theme. In an introduction, I may have a short text with a visual components that I would read out loud. It could be also a media text (like a video). I like to bring out the vocabulary and the grammar rules embedded . Finally, you have to write a journal entry, a poem, a song, or make a poster and so forth linked to our lesson that you have to present.

I like to integrate multicultural elements to the content of my lessons linked to all sorts of events as they are unfolding. For example, St. Patrick's Day is coming, so it would be great to find out about that celebration in French.

Learning should be fun and interactive.

Details

I mostly offer online lessons. My rate is $30 per hour. My first lesson is free will last 60 minutes. I offer discount for a "bundle" of 5 lessons for $28 per hour.
