About Susanna

My name is Susanna or Suzi. I graduated last year with a degree in French and German. During my time at university I lived in both France and Germany. I have experience in a HR department of a German company and taught English in French schools for 6 months. Since university, I have also au-paired in Germany for 6 months.

I am an absolute linguaphile, and love to share my passion for languages with others. At the same time, I am attentive, and it is incredibly important to me that the student understands what I am teaching them. I always try to go at a pace where the student can progress but isn't overwhelmed or challenged too much. In my lessons it is effort that counts, and mistakes are there to be made and then improved upon.

About the lesson

I have a very flexible approach to lessons, in that I adapt them to the student's best way of learning. When it comes to speaking, simply conversation is incredibly useful. When teaching grammar, I present the rules as clearly as possible then take the students through worksheets to practice these. Regarding specific topics, I try to keep the activities interesting, depending on the age I am teaching. This includes roleplay, stories, gap fills, word searches/unscrambles, creative exercises (such as design your own bedroom), fun games and listening to songs, podcasts or watching YouTube videos as a test of comprehension.

I am currently tutoring for 3 people, both French and German, two of which are adults. I have also taught English in a French school (Secondary) so I have learnt how to engage with pupils between the ages 11-25.

My lessons are for anyone learning from primary, secondary to degree level. They usually last one hour but can be longer upon request.
