About Francois

I am a French-American educator and master teacher with decades of experience teaching French to children, teenagers, and adults. Originally from France, I lived in New York City for many years where I ran a school for language education and teacher training.

My focus is not only language instruction but also in building the confidence to communicate naturally and connect with the French culture. Over the years my innovative approach has received attention from American media as well as international recognition including the top French government language education honor: Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques.

I have worked with young students, professionals, executives, artists, retirees, and international families seeking highly personalized instruction, conversation, encouragement, and cultural immersion.

Because I work closely with each student, I accept only a limited number of learners.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalized and adapted to each student’s nature, goals, and interests. Because I have worked with so many students, I can identify your learning style quickly and the method that will work best with you.

As a language education researcher, I know the importance of emotion in the process of learning and memory. As a result, my students retain what they learn and gain the ability to speak French spontaneously and intuitively.

I work with beginners, returning learners, professionals, travelers, advanced speakers, and students of every age preparing for bilingual and academic environments. Lessons may include conversation, pronunciation coaching, vocabulary building, grammar and listening practice, and cultural discussion.

I believe that languages are learned best through interaction, curiosity, and meaningful conversation rather than boring drills and fixed routines. I’ve been told by many students that I make them forget that they’re in a classroom situation.

Students appreciate the calm, encouraging, intellectually engaging atmosphere of my sessions. My goal is to help my students feel genuinely connected to the French language and confident using it in real-life situations.
