About Amy
I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Sheffield with over three years of tutoring and mentoring experience. I achieved grade 9s in GCSE Biology and Chemistry and A grades at A level, so I understand the subject knowledge and exam technique needed to perform well. During my time at A-levels I struggled with exam technique and understanding concepts myself and so had experienced being tutored myself so I also apply what I feel helped me the most to help my grades change .
My experience includes one-to-one GCSE mentoring, supporting students with university and medicine applications, and delivering anatomy and clinical-skills workshops. These roles have taught me how to adapt my explanations to students with different abilities, goals and levels of confidence. Studying medicine has also strengthened my scientific knowledge and allows me to connect Biology and Chemistry to interesting clinical and real-life examples.
I enjoy tutoring because I have seen how much difference a clear explanation and the right support can make to a student’s confidence and approach to learning. My aim is to make challenging topics feel manageable while creating a supportive and approachable environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

I offer personalised Biology and Chemistry tutoring for GCSE and A-level students, focusing on stronger subject understanding, exam technique and confidence.
At the beginning, we will identify the topics you find most difficult and agree on clear goals. I explain concepts step by step using diagrams and visual methods before applying them to exam-style questions. We will then review the mark scheme together so you understand exactly how to gain marks and improve your answers.
Lessons can include:
• Personalised lesson plans based on your strengths and weaker areas
• Clear, visual explanations of challenging topics
• Past-paper questions and detailed feedback
• Support with exam technique and mark-scheme wording
• Revision resources and flashcards
• Progress tracking and brief updates for parents or guardians, if requested
• All notes, resources, and progress tracking will be kept in an organised online folder
I studied AQA Biology and Chemistry myself, so I am particularly familiar with its content and exam style. I can also support students following other exam boards by preparing lessons around their specific syllabus, past papers and mark schemes.
I have over three years of tutoring and mentoring experience, including one-to-one GCSE mentoring and supporting students with university admissions and medicine applications. I have provided personal statement guidance, interview preparation, and taught anatomy and clinical-skills workshops. Through these roles, I have learned to adapt my explanations to different abilities and create an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
