About Rohun

Hi! I'm Rohun, a University of Southern California Grad and math tutor/college coach.

I tutor math to K-12 students of all ages—focusing on arithmetic and algebra. During my 3 years as a Mathnasium Instructor, I taught hundreds of students aged 5 to 17. I improved 90% of students' grades and 93% of students' attitudes towards math.

I also help high school students build meaningful extracurriculars and compelling college applications. My clients have gained admission at the following universities:

About the lesson

MATH TUTORING
I am trained in the Mathnasium Method, a teaching philosophy that emphasizes building upon preexisting knowledge. When meeting a new student, I usually:
1) Ask them to solve problems independently to determine their current ability and compare it to homework/exams.
2) If they're behind, we work to fill in the learning gaps.
3) If they're ahead, I ask questions and assign new material to challenge them.

COLLEGE COUNSELING
I coach seniors applying this cycle, juniors preparing early, and freshmen/sophomores deciding on extracurriculars. My students have earned admissions to dozens of top universities. My approach is:
Discover: Figure out what you enjoy doing and colleges will love.
Execute: Turn your interests into Extracurriculars: projects, summer programs, internships, or jobs.
Document: Track what you’ve done: people helped, how you felt, and skills gained.
Frame: Develop your stories and experiences into personal statements. Improve structure, style, and grammar.

Details

For college counseling, I charge $15 for an introductory session to get to know you and your exact needs. Then, I charge $45/hr for advice regarding selecting extracurriculars, majors, or universities and $55/hr for developing and reviewing essays, activities list, and resume. Ask me about session packages!
