About Smilla

Hi! I'm Smilla, a trained ballet dancer from the esteemed Royal Theatre (Det Kongelige Teater) in Denmark. Throughout my extensive journey at the ballet school and as an apprentice, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to teach schoolchildren across the country since the eighth grade.

I’ve been privileged to be part of remarkable Royal Theatre productions like 'The Nutcracker', 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Now We Dance', 'The Fable Maker', and 'The Apprenticeship'. Participating in such diverse and dynamic performances has fueled my passion and broadened my understanding of the art of ballet.

For the past several years, I’ve been devotedly working as a full-time ballet instructor in Copenhagen, embracing the joy of imparting my knowledge and passion for ballet to a multitude of eager minds. My ambition is to motivate my students, nourish their dance joy, and uphold their passion for this sublime art form, all while helping them perfect their technique and express their individual artistry.

Whether you are taking your first steps in ballet or are an advanced dancer striving for perfection, I am here to guide you and inspire you to experience the transformative power of dance, just as I have throughout my journey.

About the lesson

Rooted in the refined and graceful traditions of Denmark, my methodology is deeply influenced by the renowned Bournonville method, a signature of my extensive training and performance experience with the Royal Danish Ballet. The Bournonville approach lends a unique touch of elegance and lightness to ballet, creating distinct and captivating performances.

With over a decade of immersion in the world of ballet, I’ve cultivated a rich repository of knowledge, enabling me to elucidate complex ballet concepts with simplicity and clarity. Our sessions will be meticulously focused on achieving correct technique and style, ensuring not just the precision of movements but also the expressive beauty that captivates audiences.

Further, I can assist you in refining your extensions, turnout, pirouettes, jumps, and footwork, supplemented with targeted exercises for you to practice independently.

I firmly believe in fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment as it is pivotal for continuous improvement and learning.
