About Lois

My name is Lois and I am a student. I finished my A levels last year and I immediately took some time to travel. After studying an A level in Spanish, I lived in Chile for eight months as an au pair for a native family. The parents of the family I stayed with did not speak any English, so my Spanish quickly rose to a fluent level as I was forced to truly integrate myself if I wished to be understood. My main role in the family was to teach and study English with the children to help them improve. So, I do have teaching experience. I have also only just finished my exams in Spanish, and received top grades, so if you are looking to improve your grades in GCSE or A level then I would certainly be able to give support there. I simply adore the Spanish language, I adore the people that I never would have got to know if I hadn’t learned, and I feel that being able to widen your forms of communication is something that truly develops you as a person. I would love to share my knowledge, my experience and my passion with others who are eager to learn.

About the lesson

I feel that the most important aspect of learning a language to a proficient level is confidence. We are often so afraid to even start practicing, because perhaps we will mess up a word, a grammatical tense, perhaps our accent is not good enough. I have certainly made my fair share of mistakes, and I cannot lie that these haven’t led to embarrassing misinterpretations. But, every time I make a mistake, I remember it more clearly, and each time I become more confident. I am here to practice with you. Anything you wish to learn. With no embarrassment, no judgment, as someone who was in your position only three years ago, when I began to learn the language. I think our lessons should be built around what you wish to learn, and I can adapt to any level. Whether you are just a beginner, or you just need someone to practice conversation with once a week. However, I am here to improve your fluency, and so I think conversation, even if you are still learning the words, is the most important. Immersion I have found to be a far more effective method than simply repeating grammatical structures every lesson. So, if you wish to try a different way of learning, which involves more than just repeating your fruits and vegetables on repeat. Then I invite you to join me, and I promise that your fluency will improve as mine did.
