About Haneen

I started learning Mandarin because I fell in love with Chinese media and wanted to understand novels and movies without subtitles. This passion eventually led me to move to China. I now live and work in Chengdu, where I have built a new life entirely in Mandarin.

I have extensive experience helping expats learn to live independently here and enjoy the lifestyle. I am eager to help you reach your goals, because if I was able to do it, you can do it too!

About the lesson

Most tutors are native speakers who learned Chinese as babies; they don't understand why it is hard for you. I do.

I am a foreigner who cracked the code. I used a specific, logical method to eliminate my accent. Today, I live and work entirely in Chinese in China. I regularly make business phone calls where the person on the other line has no idea I am a foreigner until we meet in person.

I will save you hundreds of hours of frustration by teaching you the most efficient method to learn Chinese.

I use the Refold Method (Planned Comprehensible Input). I do not use boring, outdated textbooks. instead:

I provide you with native content (videos, audio, and text) that is specifically adapted to your current level—yes, even for complete beginners.

The Toolkit: For every resource, I provide a custom progress plan. This includes vocabulary lists (in Excel or Anki format), grammar breakdowns, and key themes.

We go through these materials together. I help you understand the logic behind the sentences, saving you hours of time compared to trying to decipher them alone.

A typical lesson plan

My lessons are designed to be active and engaging. A standard hour looks like this:

Deconstruction: We analyze the assigned native content together. I explain the nuance of the vocabulary and the logic of the grammar.

Speaking & Discussion: We discuss the topic of the video/text. This is where you practice output in a safe environment.

The "Accent Surgery": During our discussion, I guide you on the correct pronunciation of tones. Because I am non-native, I can explain exactly how to position your mouth and tongue to get the sound right.
